Where Every Story Shapes Character.
A little imagination. A meaningful moral.
A story only your child can tell.
The Sanskar Kahani Olympiad is a national level storytelling olympiad for children aged 3 to 8, run in partnership with Mental Maths Foundation. Children listen to moral stories from Ek Din, Ek Kahani and show what they understood, what they learned and how they would act on it, in their own words and languages.
Every round begins with a short moral story from the Ek Din, Ek Kahani website, with illustrations from the same series.
Children are encouraged to think about the lesson in the story and what they themselves would do, not just recall what happened.
A story only your child can tell. Children answer in their own words, and any language is fine in Round 1 (Hindi, Marathi or English).
Exact dates will be communicated later.

Schools and parents receive the Round 1 story and questions before the round begins. Details are below.
For children aged 3–5 years (Nanhe Kahanikaar). The child listens to one short moral story from the Ek Din, Ek Kahani website and then answers 3 simple questions about it. The story and the 3 questions are shared with all enrolled schools and parents before the round begins.
| Option A: At school | Option B: At home | |
|---|---|---|
| Who runs it | Class teacher | Parent |
| Story from | Ek Din, Ek Kahani website | Ek Din, Ek Kahani website |
| How answers are shared | School sends list + videos of selected children | Parent records a 30-second video |
| How to send | Email / WhatsApp / upload | WhatsApp or upload |
One story takes one class period (about 30 minutes for the full class). The school needs only a phone, tablet or computer with internet to open the website, and a speaker.
The teacher opens the Ek Din, Ek Kahani website and selects the Round 1 story (3–4 minutes long).
All enrolled children sit together. The teacher plays the story from the website, with voice and expressions. The story can be played one more time if needed.
The teacher calls each child individually and asks the 3 questions (see below).
The teacher gives each child marks out of 10 using the judging criteria.
Parents can run Round 1 at home in about 10 minutes and send one 30-second video.
Open the Ek Din, Ek Kahani website and play the Round 1 story with your child. You may play it twice.
Ask your child the same 3 questions (understanding, moral, personal connect). Let your child answer in their own words, in Hindi, Marathi or English.
Record your child answering on your mobile phone. Hold the phone steady in a quiet place where your child's face and voice are clear. Please do not prompt the answers.
